麻辣凉菜: a bold, savory salad with a tingly Sichuan kick.
Fire up Chinese Mala Salad with everything from chicken + cucumbers to mushrooms in under 20 minutes!
Equal parts refreshing, savory, and spicy, this dish gets its fiery kick from Sichuan peppercorn. Make it with smashed cucumbers + your protein of choice, and you’re in for a tingly, numbing, refreshingly crisp meal.

Everything was absolutely wonderful.
I was thrilled at how spicy this starter was - thrilled! I love a hot and numbing combo and I assumed that this would get there, but not all the way but it was perfect. It definitely packs a punch and may be too much for some but I absolutely love it.
Used 1 packet w 8 c broth, charred onion and scallion, 1 flank steak sliced very thin, 4 "pucks" Ramen noodles. Easy hot-pot! Delicious! Love this starter!
First - a warning… if you don’t like hot/spicy food, this is not the sauce for you!
But if you’re like me and crave the unique heat that I have only found on trips to China - you’ll want to stock up on Mala Salad kits. The name is kind of misleading - since it is great for salad… but it is also great for any cooked dish or marinade. This has by far become my favorite Omsom sauce - and have subscribed so I always have for a fast salad, stir fry or more.
My family loved the Mala Salad pack and everything else we have tried. So glad we found them.
I thought I could handle a decent level of spice but this was so spicy I wasn't able to enjoy it much. I had to make a separate sauce full of lime and rice vinegar to cut the spiciness and it was still hard to eat :(. Know I know to add less next time. But I'm still excited to try the other flavors. It's good but you have been warned!
