Thai Larb

Originally born in Laos, larb is a minced meat "salad" that is traditionally made with softly-poached ground chicken or pork. The dish (also called laab) is a perfect balance of sweet, tart, salty, with a punch of spice. Pro tip: make your own toasted rice powder to give the dish an extra special texture and subtle nutty aroma.

Larb sauce good, but could be better

The Larb sauce was pretty good, but could stand to be improved. First, toasted ground rice should be included. Second, there isn’t any need for any added sugar except from what comes naturally from the lime juice. And third, it needs to be way spicier! I added six Thai Birds Eye chilies and two habaneros in order to get a semi-decent kick.

Delicious and versatile

The larb sauce is great for making larb, of course, but it's also amazing in the recipe for Cowboy Caviar on the Omsom web site. Only the lack of toasted rice powder keeps it from being perfect

Delicious but quite spicy

Excellent flavor that rivals my favorite local takeout place. Found the spice level to be a bit much, though. Couldn't serve it to half the family, despite it otherwise being delicious!

So delicious

I love larb, but the teenagers in the house do not. However, the ceviche recipe on the Omsom website converted them! Now they are inviting friends over for ceviche. I need more fish.
Oh - and using the regular recipe, this makes a great adder to spinach salad that is easy to divide into portions to take to work for lunch. Mmmmm. (Bring the ground meat larb in a separate microwave safe container and heat it up before tossing it with your salad.)

Love those noodles!

I’m a long time fan of Omsom and was very excited to try out the new saucy noodles. We’ve been working our way through the sample pack and it’s been delicious - my only complaint is that I wish there was more. It’s described as two servings per container, but each box has a single noodle brick and a sauce packet. Even when I add a protein and other ingredients, I end up cooking two packages each time. I'll be ordering more sooner, I guess.
