Originally born in Laos, larb is a minced meat "salad," traditionally made with softly-poached ground chicken or pork. The dish (also called laab) is a perfect balance of sweet, tart, salty, and a punch of spice. Larb's secret lies in the toasted rice powder mixed in at the end, giving the dish a subtle, nutty aroma.
An Omsom starter is a pantry shortcut, combining all the sauces, aromatics, and seasonings you need to cook a specific Asian dish. Recipes are provided - just add protein + veggies!

I love Larb! While I live in a city where there's an abundance of Thai and Southeast Asian restaurants and (if you know where to go) grocers, I also have some food allergies so being able to use this well-sourced mix that tastes 100% like restaurant larb but also has clear ingredients/allergen info is a game changer. I tried making larb from scratch before, but I know the rice powder is key and I have no clue where to source it (or source it in a package in English), so consider me hooked. Way to go, Omsom, for making this cuisine so accessible!
My son gave me a sampler set of Omsom packets for Christmas last year and the Larb was my favorite. So I have stocked up on that! This year I am giving HIM a sampler set with the Filipino sauces, his girlfriend is Filipino. I’m sure they will love your products as much as I do! Thank you!
I sent the larb seasoning packets to a friend who loved being able to make her own delicious larb at home. I ordered a box of larb seasoning for my own kitchen because I already know how good it is. I was so delighted to see that now the seasoning packets are larger because that has been my only problem with Omsom, not quite enough seasoning for a whole pound of ground chicken.
The Thai Larb tastes as good and even better than some of the Thai restaurants we've been to. So, so good. To day I am making your Filipino Sissig. You girls have really nailed your flavors. Love that I don't have to try to find all the spices. You did that for me! Thank you. So happy you are in Whole Foods now.
…you will love this! So easy and so crazy good! I used ground turkey breast. Next time I’ll try it with mushrooms.
The Thai larb is my absolute favorite starter! So delicious and easy! My go-to for a quick and yummy dinner. Seriously eat it once a week…
