Instructions

Try this hack for extra crispy tofu!

  1. Cut tofu along the short side into ¼-inch strips.
  2. Bring 4 cups water and 1/4 cup of salt to a boil in a small pot.
  3. Once boiling, turn off heat, add tofu, and let soak for 10 minutes.
  4. Drain water and pat tofu dry with paper towels.
  5. Dice into cubes.
  6. Season tofu lightly with 1 tsp. each of salt and pepper.

Let’s get cooking:

  1. Heat oil in the skillet over medium high heat. Add onion, reserving a handful for garnish, and cook for 3 minutes until soft.
  2. Add tofu to skillet, turn heat up to high and fry, stirring occasionally, until evenly browned, about 8 minutes.
  3. Turn heat down to low, add the Omsom starter, stir, and season with salt and pepper to taste. For the brightest flavor, try not to boil the starter.
  4. Crack an egg into the warm pan, and stir to quickly cook the egg.
  5. Turn off heat, add mayo, and stir to combine.
  6. Finish with the reserved onion.
  7. Serve hot - preferably sizzling! Serve with some of our suggested favorites. Enjoy!
